Polokwane, Limpopo – The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Mokopane has launched an intensive manhunt after two passengers were fatally shot and robbed on a bus along the N1 highway on Wednesday night.
The incident occurred approximately eight kilometres before the Nylplaza Tollgate at around 21:40.
According to SAPS spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the bus, a Volvo 60-seater carrying 54 passengers, had departed from Randfontein en route to Zimbabwe, with stops in Midrand and Pretoria to pick up additional passengers.
“Two male passengers seated at the back of the bus suddenly produced firearms and pointed them at the other passengers.
During a struggle, the suspects fired several shots inside the bus, fatally wounding a 30-year-old male passenger and an estimated 25-year-old female passenger,” Colonel Ledwaba said.
