Durban – Five people were swept out to sea at Pennington main beach, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) on the evening of 1 January 2026.
One person was rescued and is stable.
Two bodies have now been recovered, including the second body reported by SABC News, while two others remain missing and are presumed dead.
