Cape Town – The bail hearing of Tiffany Meek, accused of murdering her 11-year-old son Jayden-Lee Meek and defeating the ends of justice, is set to continue on Monday at the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court in Johannesburg.
The Grade 6 pupil allegedly died of blunt-force head trauma at their Fleurhof flat.
The state claims there was an attempt to clean up blood evidence, but forensic findings showed blood on Jayden-Lee’s bed and one of his schoolbooks.
Tiffany , who claims she has been framed, intends to plead not guilty.

In a tearful court appearance on Friday, her affidavit — read by her lawyer Noven Naidoo — stated she did not kill her son and plans to appoint a private investigator due to a loss of confidence in the police’s handling of the case.
Tiffany has offered R5,000 bail, stating she is not a flight risk and earns R17,500 per month as a clerical worker supporting her mother and brother.
Following Friday’s court proceedings, the boy’s uncle, Owen Meek, urged the public to respect both families and said they remain firm in their beliefs despite disagreeing with aspects of the bail application.
“Monday, we will be back to hear the verdict – what the bail hearing is all about, if she will get the bail or not. But during this time, we just ask for a bit of respect for the families. A lot going on on social media, a lot,” said Owen.
“I’m going to say that a lot of what was put in the bail statement is something that we don’t agree with… we stand firm on what our beliefs are and I would like to ask everybody just to stik with us, give us the support, the support that we’ve been reeiving from everybody. We are very humbled, we are very blessed.”
