Polokwane – A 78-year-old farmer from Stoffkraal Farm in the Harteles area of Limpopo was found brutally murdered in his home this week, prompting a full-scale manhunt by provincial police.
The victim, who lived alone, was discovered on the morning of Thursday, 1 May, by a family member.
According to police, his body was found inside the bathroom, bound with wire and with a cloth tied over his mouth. He lay in a pool of blood with severe wounds visible on his forehead.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim’s blue Cherry motor vehicle was spotted along the R555 public road heading to the Burgersfort policing area,” police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said.

“The motor vehicle was later found abandoned after having overturned, about six kilometres from the scene of crime.”
Police believe the attack took place on the evening of Wednesday, 30 April 2025, around 17:15.
A murder case has been opened by Roossenekal police under the Sekhukhune District.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo, Major General Samuel Manala, has ordered police to mobilise all available resources to track down the perpetrators of this heinous crime.
The motive behind the killing remains unknown, and no arrests have been made.
