Cape Town – A four-year-old boy has tragically died after being struck by a stray bullet in a suspected gang-related shooting in Hanover Park, Cape Town.
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Moray Court, a known hotspot for gang violence.
In a statement, SAPS condemned the shooting, calling it part of the “ruthless and reckless conduct of criminals who continue to endanger innocent lives.”
The police confirmed that the suspects involved have been arrested and will face the full extent of the law.
“The shooting of a four-year-old child in Hanover Park is utterly tragic. The suspects have been arrested and will face the full might of the law,” the statement read.

The police emphasised the devastating impact of violent crime on communities, particularly when it affects children. They urged residents to remain vigilant and to assist law enforcement where possible, highlighting the importance of community cooperation in preventing similar tragedies in the future.
“This incident underscores the critical need for all members of the community to work together with the police in tackling crime and safeguarding innocent lives,” SAPS said.
