Cape Town – South Africa is facing severe weather on Saturday, 5 July 2025, with disruptive rainfall, snow, and damaging waves affecting key regions, according to the South African Weather Service(SAWS).
Significant impacts are expected for both rural and urban communities, requiring vigilance from residents and authorities alike.
- Yellow Level 4 Warning: Disruptive Rainfall: A Level 4 weather warning has been issued for the western regions of the Western Cape, including Cape Town, the Cape Winelands, and Overberg. - Yellow Level 1 Warning – Disruptive Snow: Snowfall is expected in the northern parts of the Eastern Cape, especially around Senqu and Elundini. The wintry conditions could result in mountain pass closures, hazardous driving due to icy roads, and possible livestock losses in exposed farming areas.
- Yellow Level 2 Warning – Damaging Waves: Maritime warnings have been issued for sea routes stretching from Cape Agulhas to East London, with rough seas and large waves expected. These conditions could pose serious risks to small boats and make sailing in the area dangerous.
