Limpopo – Police in Limpopo have launched a large-scale manhunt following a string of business robberies in the Waterval policing area under the Vhembe District.
According to the South African Police Service, the incidents occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, 19 March 2026, across several villages, with spaza shops specifically targeted.
“In all incidents, the suspects are reported to have used similar methods of entry by breaking walls and targeting spaza shops,” police said in a statement.

Authorities believe the robberies may be linked due to the coordinated approach used by the suspects.
Police have appealed to members of the public to come forward with any information that could assist in tracking down those responsible.
“Police are appealing to anyone with information that can assist in the arrest of the suspects to contact the Investigating Officer, Captain Phillip Mabunda,” the statement added.
Residents can also report information to their nearest police station, the Crime Stop number, or via the MySAPS app.
No arrests have been made at this stage, and investigations are ongoing.
