Mitchells Plain, Western Cape – Three men were fatally shot in Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain, late on Sunday night, prompting a police investigation into a possible gang-related attack.
At approximately 23:50, police responded to reports of gunfire on Bayern Munich Road, where they found two men deceased at the scene.
A third victim, aged 36, was confirmed dead after arriving at a nearby medical facility. The victims, aged 21, 22, and 36, were reportedly returning home from a Rasta festival in Freedom Park when they were ambushed by unknown assailants.
Colonel Andrè Traut, spokesperson for the Western Cape police, said, “While the motive is still under investigation, the possibility of the incident being gang-related has not been ruled out.”
He urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or share tips anonymously via the MySAPS mobile application.
Detectives from the Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Unit are actively pursuing all leads as part of the ongoing investigation.
This incident adds to a series of recent shootings in the area, raising concerns about escalating violence in Mitchells Plain.
