Polokwane – A 24-year-old woman appeared in Musina Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 26 August 2025, charged with raping a 13-year-old boy.
The case was postponed for profiling and further investigations, according to Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, spokesperson for the South African Police Service (SAPS) Limpopo.
The suspect, whose identity is withheld due to the ongoing investigation, was arrested on the same day of the incident—Friday, 22 August 2025—by detectives from the Musina Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses (FCS) unit.
The alleged rape took place at approximately 3:00 PM at a local church shelter within the Musina policing area.
“It is reported that, the suspect called the victim, while he was passing next to a crèche based at the shelter. Apparently, he went to her, and he found the woman naked lying on the ground.
“She then started to touch him inappropriately in sensitive areas and subsequently raped him at a space not far from the dustbin,” police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said.
The incident was witnessed by a shelter resident who was on their way to the dustbin. The shelter’s caretaker was informed immediately, and police were notified, prompting the arrest of the suspect.
Investigations into the case are ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence. The police have urged the community to come forward with any information that can assist in the investigation.
Ledwaba emphasised the commitment of SAPS to ensure justice for victims of sexual offenses and protection of vulnerable communities.
