Polokwane – The Toyota Land Cruiser belonging to missing diesel mechanic Reuben Marsberg (22) has been recovered abandoned and stripped in Polokwane, police confirmed on Monday.
Marsberg, who had relocated from Howick in KwaZulu-Natal to Louis Trichardt in Limpopo for work, was last seen on Wednesday, 26 November 2025.
Authorities have expressed concern over his whereabouts as investigations continue.
At the time of his disappearance, Marsberg was driving a cream 1976 Toyota Land Cruiser and carrying a grey toolbox.
The vehicle was later discovered in Polokwane with a small amount of blood visible inside.
“We recovered the vehicle abandoned, and it appears to have been stripped,” said a spokesperson from Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA).
“Our specialised canine units searched the surrounding area, but unfortunately, Marsberg has not yet been located.”
Several household items, including a television, PlayStation, Wi-Fi router, mattress, and blanket, were also reported missing from his residence. In addition, a boat and trailer belonging to Marsberg were stolen.
The trailer is identifiable by its blue tyre rims, while the boat’s propeller is marked with red paint and fitted with a Yamaha outboard motor.
The RUSA spokesperson urged the public to remain vigilant and provide information that could help locate Marsberg.
“If anyone has seen Reuben Marsberg, or if you are approached to purchase the stolen property, please contact us immediately on 086 1234 333,” the spokesperson said.
The police have opened an investigation into the disappearance and thefts, but no arrests have been made.
