Cape Town – The Overberg District Municipality in the Western Cape says a fire truck accident sparked intense fires across the region and left two firefighters injured.
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon while the truck was responding to an ongoing veldfire, before it rolled down an embankment.
“Two firefighters were injured and have been transported to the local hospital for medical care. We ask that the community keep them in their thoughts as they recover.
“This has been a challenging and intense fire to contain, but our teams continue their efforts to bring it fully under control,” said Municipal Manager Richard Bosman.
The municipality expressed its sincere gratitude to all firefighters, volunteers, and partners for their steadfast commitment and collaboration amid the difficult conditions.
