Cape Town – A 37-year-old South African National Defence Force (SANDF) member was shot and killed in Delft South on Wednesday night, police have confirmed.
According to police, officers from Delft responded to a complaint of a shooting at approximately 22:20 on 08 April 2026 in Kokaboom Street, where they found the man with multiple gunshot wounds.
“The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel,” police said.
Authorities confirmed that the circumstances surrounding the shooting are now under investigation, while the motive remains unknown.

Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased was off duty at the time of the incident and had no link to Operation Prosper, a separate SANDF deployment initiative.
Police said the suspect or suspects fled the scene immediately after the shooting and have not yet been arrested.
Delft detectives have opened a case of murder and are leading the investigation.
