Johannesburg – Bellarmine “Chatunga” Mugabe, 28, son of the late former Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe, is expected to appear in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on Monday on a charge of attempted murder following a shooting at his Hyde Park home in Johannesburg.
Mugabe and another suspect were arrested after a 23-year-old employee at the property was shot and left critically injured in hospital.
The pair have been in custody since Thursday.

A key piece of evidence — the firearm allegedly used in the shooting — has not yet been recovered. Police confirmed that spent cartridges were found at the scene, and K9 units and forensic teams have been searching the property and surrounding areas.
Ballistic testing of the recovered cartridges is expected to play a central role in the investigation.

Authorities say the motive remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing.
The case has attracted significant public attention due to the prominence of the accused and the Mugabe family’s past legal controversies in South Africa.
