Mpumalanga – A 39-year-old Mozambican national has been arrested after police intercepted a stolen vehicle on the N4 near Nelspruit.
According to the South African Police Service, officers from the Nelspruit Flying Squad acted on information about a silver Toyota Legend 50 reported stolen in Phokeng, North West, earlier this month.
Police spotted a vehicle matching the description travelling near Alkmaar on Sunday, 12 April 2026, and conducted a stop.
Preliminary investigations revealed the bakkie had been fitted with false registration plates and a fraudulent licence disc.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle. The vehicle has since been recovered as part of ongoing investigations.
Police have not yet confirmed when the suspect is expected to appear in court.
