Cape Town – A manhunt is under way after a public prosecutor was fatally shot in a brazen daylight attack outside her home in Gqeberha on Thursday afternoon.
According to Eastern Cape police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, the victim had just arrived home at around 15:30 and was still seated in her Toyota Etios on Lotton Street, Young Park, when four masked gunmen in a white VW Polo pulled up and opened fire.
“Multiple shots were fired at her vehicle. She was rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds but sadly succumbed to her injuries on arrival,” said Captain Van Rensburg.

The prosecutor’s identity has not yet been released, as police await formal identification and the notification of her family.
The motive behind the attack is still unknown, and no arrests have been made. SAPS Algoa Park detectives are investigating and have appealed to the public for assistance.
