Kimberley – A 33-year-old man is expected to appear in the Postmasburg Magistrate’s Court following his arrest in connection with the alleged murder of another 33-year-old man in Postmasburg in the Northern Cape.
According to police, the incident occurred on Wednesday evening, 4 March 2026.
South African Police Service spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thabo Litabe said community members became suspicious after seeing the suspect running from the victim’s home.
“According to the investigation by the police, the suspect was seen running out of the victim’s residence at approximately 19:35 on Wednesday, 4 March 2026 causing community members to be suspicious,” said Litabe.
Members of the community then entered the house, where they made a grim discovery.
“Upon entering the home, they found the victim in a pool of blood, under a bed and quickly alerted the police,” Litabe said.
Emergency responders later confirmed the victim had died at the scene.
“The victim was certified dead at the scene and the suspect was arrested shortly afterwards,” he added.
The District Commissioner of ZF Mgcawu District, Major General Monica Sebili, praised police officers for acting quickly to apprehend the suspect.
Sebili also thanked members of the public for assisting law enforcement with information that helped lead to the arrest.
Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
