Limpopo – A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 64-year-old man in Ntsako Village in Limpopo’s Mopani District, the South African Police Service (SAPS) said.
According to police, officers responded to a complaint in the Mopani District Municipality area on Friday morning and found the elderly victim lying on the ground with severe head injuries.
In a statement, South African Police Service said: “Police in Letsitele, Mopani District, have arrested a 24-year-old suspect in connection with the murder of a 64-year-old man at Ntsako Village.”
Authorities said the incident was reported on Friday, 13 March 2026, at about 10:10.
“Police initially responded to a complaint on Friday, 13 March 2026, at approximately 10:10, where they found the elderly man lying on the ground with head injuries. Two black three-legged iron pots were found next to the victim,” police said.

Emergency responders confirmed the man had died at the scene.
“Emergency Medical Services personnel declared the 64-year-old victim dead at the scene,” SAPS added.
Preliminary investigations indicate the victim had been working in the village at the time of the attack.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was painting a house in the village when the suspect allegedly accused him of practising witchcraft,” police said.
“The suspect allegedly assaulted the elderly man with the iron pots, resulting in his death.”
Police confirmed the suspect was later apprehended the same day.
“The suspect was arrested later on Friday, 13 March 2026, and is expected to appear before the Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 16 March 2026, facing a charge of murder,” SAPS said.
Authorities added that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
