Cape Town – Cole Bruiners has been sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Plettenberg Bay Regional Court for attacking an elderly couple with a panga during a morning walk on January 14, 2025.
The 70-year-old woman was assaulted while resisting a robbery, and her 73-year-old husband was stabbed in the head when he tried to protect her.
Bruiners fled with their hats, but the attack was captured on CCTV and widely shared on social media.

A local crime prevention member identified him, leading to his arrest, IOL reported.
