Cape Town – A South African national Jacobus Lodevickus Janse Van Rensburg, was arrested in the United States by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after authorities determined he was in the country illegally.
He faces multiple criminal charges, including aggravated assault with a weapon, assault, and driving under the influence.

ICE took him into custody following encounters with local law enforcement, though further details about the alleged offenses or his current detention were not released.
The arrest comes amid ICE’s expanded operations under the Trump administration, which has increased the agency’s staffing, budget, and enforcement activities as part of a wider effort to remove undocumented migrants.
