Durban – A man was found dumped near a railway line in Phoenix, KwaZulu-Natal, on Tuesday after allegedly being run over by a vehicle, according to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA).
In a post shared on social media, RUSA said: “A man who was run over was found dumped near a railway line in Phoenix, KwaZulu-Natal, today (Tuesday).”
The man told responders that he had been struck by a white bakkie carrying three occupants.
RUSA said the victim claimed that after the incident, the occupants allegedly placed him into the vehicle before abandoning him at the railway line.
“According to the male, he was run over by a white bakkie with three (3) occupants,” the post read. “He stated that the occupants placed him into the vehicle and later dumped him next to a railway line before driving away.”
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to the scene, where they found private security officers already present. “Members of Reaction Unit South Africa responded to the scene, where private Security Officers were already in attendance,” RUSA said.
The organisation added that the man was intoxicated at the time he was found. “The male was intoxicated at the time,” the statement noted, adding that “his version of events could not be independently verified.”
It was not immediately clear whether a criminal case has been opened or if police have identified the alleged vehicle or its occupants. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
