Cape Town – Police have launched a manhunt following the brutal killing of two elderly sisters, aged 75 and 85, who were gunned down in their home in Upper Ncerha, near Alice, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
According to Eastern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa, the sisters were asleep in their four-roomed house when unknown suspect(s) forcefully entered and opened fire.
Upon arrival at the scene, police discovered both victims with fatal gunshot wounds to their upper bodies. They were declared dead at the scene.
“The Eastern Cape SAPS Management has learnt with shock the incident,” said Mawisa.
“A preliminary investigation was conducted but has not yielded any results so far.”

The Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Thandiswa Kupiso, has ordered a full-scale investigation into the double murder and has urged the team to work tirelessly to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“Violence against women, children and elderly people is unacceptable, and the SAPS is committed to protecting the vulnerable in society against the increase of gender-based violence,” said Kupiso.

The motive for the killings remains unknown, and no arrests have been made.
