Ficksburg – Police have arrested a 32-year-old Meqheleng man in connection with the alleged murder of his girlfriend, 24-year-old Nomsa Kotope, at her rented room in Zone 2, Meqheleng, Freestate.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the suspect had allegedly accused Kotope of infidelity before the incident.
Police spokespersons said the matter came to light when the suspect’s ex-girlfriend arrived at the local police station on Sunday, 6 December 2025, to report “the possible murder of a woman at Meqheleng Zone 2”.
“Police responded swiftly and, upon arrival, found the victim lying on the floor inside her rented room,” SAPS said.
“Emergency Medical Services were summoned and the woman was declared deceased at the scene.”
The suspect was arrested shortly afterwards.
SAPS confirmed that the man has been charged with murder.
“The 32-year-old suspect is expected to appear before the Ficksburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 9 December 2025,” the police said.
