Cape Town – Police in Tzaneen, Limpopo, have arrested a 31-year-old woman in connection with the gruesome murder of a man whose dismembered body was discovered buried behind his home in Morutji Village, Bolobedu South.
SAPS on Friday confirmed the breakthrough in the case, which has shocked the local community.
According to police, the body of 42-year-old Isaiah Thomas Maphalle was found “dismembered, wrapped in a maize meal bag, and buried in a shallow grave at the back of his house.” The discovery was made after concerned community members alerted officers earlier this week.
“A thorough investigation was immediately launched, which led to the arrest of the deceased’s alleged girlfriend,” said SAPS Limpopo spokesperson in a statement. The suspect was apprehended on Thursday, 4 December 2025.
Police said the motive for the killing has not yet been established. “The motive behind the incident is still under police investigations,” the statement added.
The woman is expected to appear before the Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 8 December 2025, facing a charge of murder.
Police investigations are continuing.
