Johannesburg – Gauteng residents are being advised to prepare for extremely cold weather this week, with temperatures in Johannesburg expected to drop to -2°C and Pretoria to 0°C, according to Gauteng Weather forecasts.

Emergency services are on high alert as the use of heating devices may increase the risk of house fires.
Residents are urged to use heaters, stoves, and candles safely and never leave them unattended.
Meanwhile, the South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned of a severe cold front hitting the Western and Northern Cape from Wednesday to Friday.
The forecast includes very cold, wet, and windy conditions, heavy rain, snowfall on high ground, and dangerous sea conditions.
Yellow level warnings have been issued for damaging waves and winds along parts of the southern and eastern coastlines, posing risks to small vessels and harbour operations.
