Johannesburg – A Kempton Park man has claimed a Lotto Plus 1 jackpot worth over R13 million after buying a R10 ticket at a local spaza shop while travelling home to Pretoria, POST reports.
The winning numbers included three from his regular selection, and he discovered his win on Sunday.
According to IOL, National Lottery operator Ithuba verified the claim, calling the win a spontaneous, instinct-driven moment. The operator reported that the man felt an urge to purchase a ticket that Saturday – a choice he says has since changed his life.
He intends to invest part of the winnings, buy a new car, renovate his and his father’s homes, and treat his father to new suits. He also aims to empower his children financially by supporting them in starting their own businesses.
Ithuba CEO Charmaine Mabuza highlighted that the win fell on Valentine’s Day, praising the winner’s focus on family, responsibility, and sustainable wealth creation.
