Durban – Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of a man at a guest house in Brooklyn, following a coordinated, intelligence-driven operation by the South African Police Service (SAPS).
According to SAPS, the arrests were made in the early hours of 12 April 2026, at approximately 04:15, after investigators tracked the movements of the suspects across provincial lines.
The victim, identified as Braam Kruger, was killed in an incident at a guest house in Brooklyn. Police said preliminary investigations, supported by intelligence gathering and evidence analysis, linked the suspects to KwaZulu-Natal.
“It was further established that the group travelled to Durban approximately three days after the incident,” SAPS said.
A multidisciplinary team was deployed to KwaZulu-Natal to pursue the suspects. However, while en route, authorities received updated intelligence indicating that the suspects were returning to Gauteng.
Police then redirected their operation to Protea Glen, where a property previously associated with the suspects was identified.
“Upon entry, members located four male suspects inside the residence. All four individuals were positively linked to the Brooklyn murder investigation and were arrested without incident,” SAPS said.
Investigations are ongoing, with police still searching for a fifth suspect believed to be involved in the case.
District Commissioner Major General Samuel Thine commended the officers involved in the operation, praising their “exceptional commitment, professionalism, and resilience”.
He highlighted the role of coordinated intelligence-led policing and cooperation between provincial teams in securing the arrests.
Police said efforts to track down the remaining suspect are continuing.
