Kimberley — South African Police Service (SAPS) members acting on intelligence intercepted a silver bakkie on the N12 highway early on Friday morning, 10 April 2026, leading to the arrest of three foreign nationals in possession of diesel valued at approximately R10 000.
The swift operation by shift members attached to Kimberley SAPS followed information about the vehicle allegedly transporting stolen property towards Kimberley.
Police spotted the bakkie matching the description, tactically stopped it, and ordered the occupants to disembark.
A search of the vehicle revealed several containers filled with diesel. The suspects, aged 21, 29, and 36, could not provide a satisfactory explanation for possessing the fuel.
The three men were arrested on charges of possession of suspected stolen property and are expected to appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court in the coming days.
Frances Baard District Commissioner, Major General Charlotte Makgari, welcomed the arrest. She applauded the collaboration between stakeholders and SAPS members for their commitment to combating crime during and beyond the Safer Easter Operation Paseka in the district.
Operation Paseka, which runs until 15 April 2026, forms part of intensified efforts to enhance safety on the roads and in communities over the Easter period.
