Cape Town – Emergency services responded to a suspected drive-by shooting on Monday morning after a white Hyundai i20 was found riddled with bullet holes near Argyle Road, between Umgeni Road and NMR Avenue in Durban.
One person was confirmed dead and another critically injured in the attack, which occurred at around 10:30 a.m.
According to ALS Paramedics, emergency teams arrived to find two men — believed to be in their 30s and 40s — suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
“Unfortunately, one has passed away on the scene due to multiple gunshot wounds. Second person has sustained critical injuries with also multiple gunshot wounds and has been transported to a nearby hospital for the urgent care that he required,” reported ALS Paramedics.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) confirmed the fatality and said investigations into the shooting are underway.
“The circumstances surrounding this shooting is unknown, however SAPS will be investigating,” said ALS Paramedics.
According to reports by ArriveAlive, a silver vehicle carrying about four occupants allegedly pulled up alongside the Hyundai before opening fire and speeding away.
The motive for the shooting remains unclear.
Authorities have closed off the affected section of Argyle Road and have urged motorists to avoid the area while investigations continue.
