Durban — A security officer is fighting for his life after being shot during an altercation at a popular pub in Durban on Friday night.
According to ALS Paramedics, emergency teams responded to multiple calls for assistance just before 11pm.
On arrival, paramedics found the victim — a man believed to be in his thirties — with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
“It is alleged that the victim was shot by a patron following an altercation,” said ALS spokesperson Garrith Jamieson.
The man was stabilised on the scene by advanced life support paramedics before being rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) attended the scene and confirmed that an investigation into the circumstances leading up to the shooting is underway.
Authorities have not yet confirmed any arrests.
