Johannesburg – The mother of slain media personality Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock has expressed concern that Victor Majola, the man accused of orchestrating her son’s murder, could evade trial if granted bail.
The Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court is set to rule on Majola’s bail application on Monday.
Majola is accused of playing a central role in planning DJ Warras’ killing, which occurred last month outside a Johannesburg building.
Evidence linking him to the crime includes details of DJ Warras and his partner found on Majola’s cellphone.
Speaking to SABC News, DJ Warras’ mother, Beverly Stock, said she supports the State’s opposition to bail, warning that Majola “would present a danger if he is let out on bail” and could intimidate witnesses.
“I am very much agreeing with how the state presented their case that the accused would present a danger if he is let out on bail, he would intimidate witnesses and because I, myself are from rural KZN, I know that he would be a flight risk and we would never find him in the foothills of KwaZulu Natal.”
The State maintains that releasing Majola could compromise the investigation and endanger witnesses.
The court will hear arguments from both sides before making a decision, as public interest remains high in the case.
