Johannesburg – Murder accused businessman and alleged crime kingpin Katiso “KT” Molefe has been granted R400,000 bail by the Johannesburg High Court, overturning an earlier decision by the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court that denied his release.
Judge Brad Wanless delivered the ruling on Friday, stating that the previous order was set aside and replaced with new bail terms.
The R400,000 bail is in addition to R100,000 already granted by the Pretoria High Court in a separate matter.
“The order granted in the regional court of Gauteng, held at Alexandra, whereby the appellant’s application for bail was dismissed, is set aside and is substituted with this order,” he said.
“The appellant is granted bail in the amount of R400,000. This amount is in addition to the bail granted by the High Court of South Africa, Gauteng Division, Pretoria, in the sum of R100,000.”

As part of his bail conditions, Molefe must report to the Morningside Police Station every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 06:00 and 18:00.
He is confined to Gauteng but may travel to Welkom, Free State, for business after notifying the investigating officer. His passport remains confiscated, and he is barred from contacting any state witnesses.
Molefe, 61, is accused of orchestrating the 2022 murder of musician Oupa “DJ Sumbody” Sefoka and two of his bodyguards, who were gunned down in Woodmead.
He appealed the August 20 ruling that denied him bail, arguing through his lawyer, Advocate Michael Hellens SC, that the state’s case relied on speculation and weak circumstantial evidence.
