Polokwane – Three South African Police Service (SAPS) employees stationed at Modimolle Police Station have appeared in court on charges of theft and defeating the ends of justice, following an alleged looting incident involving a crashed delivery truck.
Warrant Officer SF Ndlovu (55), Warrant Officer L Boya (49), and general cleaner RL Moima (50) briefly appeared before the Modimolle Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 21 July 2025.
Their case was postponed to Friday, 25 July, for a formal bail application.
According to Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the charges stem from an incident on 14 July 2025, when a delivery truck transporting pallets of washing powder lost control on the R101 road near Modimolle.
“During the chaos that followed, the two police officers allegedly looted the spilled cargo using a marked SAPS vehicle, while the general cleaner was later also linked to the crime,” Ledwaba said in a statement.
A joint investigation by the Limpopo Provincial Anti-Corruption Unit and the Modimolle Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) led to their arrest and the recovery of some of the stolen goods.
Police say investigations are ongoing.
