Cape Town – The Department of Justice has dismissed 54 officials for misconduct, including corruption and fraud, as part of its strengthened internal accountability efforts.
In the 2024/25 financial year, 223 labour relations cases were addressed, with 164 finalised — resulting in dismissals, suspensions, resignations, acquittals, and warnings.
Fifteen of the dismissals occurred between January and April 2025, and 15 cases were referred for criminal prosecution.
Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi welcomed the swift action, emphasising the department’s zero tolerance for misconduct and its alignment with the government’s broader anti-corruption agenda.
“The minister has noted that these outcomes should serve as a stern warning to those who seek to defraud or corrupt the department,” the minister’s spokesperson Terence Manase as saying.
“This firm approach aligns with the broader government’s anti-corruption agenda and reflects the department’s commitment to clean governance,” he said.
