Cape Town – Western Cape police are searching for suspects involved in an armed robbery at a Somerset West shopping complex on the morning of Tuesday, May 6.
According to reports, 10 armed men stole an undisclosed amount of cash and fled through the back entrance, firing at approaching police officers.
“Upon exiting the building, they noticed a patrol vehicle approaching and fired numerous gunshots at the police members
“We can confirm that no one sustained any injuries owing to the exchange of gunfire. The rest of the suspects fled the scene, and they are yet to be arrested,” the reports quoted Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi as saying.
No injuries were reported, and one suspect, aged 28, was arrested.
A case of business robbery has been opened, and police are urging the public to share any information via Crime Stop or the MySAPS app.
