Cape Town – A 73-year-old suspect is under police guard in hospital after allegedly firing shots during a business meeting that left one brother dead and another seriously wounded.
The incident occurred in Potchefstroom, North West province, when two brothers — Jonathan Fourie (52) and Deon Fourie (55), owners of the restaurant chain “Chubby Chick” — were meeting the suspect in mid-morning, stated police spokesperson Col Adéle Myburgh.
Jonathan Fourie was fatally wounded and later died, while Deon Fourie sustained serious injuries and was hospitalised.
The suspect, who was aided by security personnel after being restrained, is listed in stable condition.

According to the SAPS, “The suspect will appear in the Potchefstroom magistrate’s court on charges of murder and attempted murder after being released from hospital.”
