Pretoria – A 57-year-old Chinese national wanted in connection with a fraud case in China has been arrested in South Africa, police confirmed this week.
The fugitive was apprehended on Tuesday, 22 July 2025, by the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) in Pretoria, which operates under the South African Police Service (SAPS).
The arrest was made after the suspect’s fugitive status was flagged during a visa application at the United States Embassy in Sandton.

“Wanted persons often flee to another country to evade their arrest,” police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk said in a statement.
The suspect made his first appearance in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 23 July 2025.
Police have not yet disclosed the suspect’s identity or further details regarding the fraud case.
