Cape Town – An investigation is underway for a suspect who fatally shot a 55-year-old female schoolteacher in Mqanduli, Eastern Cape.
In a statement, spokesperson spokesperson Captain Welile Matyolo said the incident occurred at around 6:30 a.m. on Monday morning in the Makhumsheni locality, where the victim was shot by a man on foot.
“The deceased was shot dead by a man on foot in Makhumsheni locality – Nyezi Administrative Area in Mqanduli whilst driving her vehicle to Gengqe locality where she works as an educator,” said Captain Matyolo.
The teacher was accompanied by two male youths, aged 17 and 20, who survived the tragic shooting unharmed.
Police have urged the public to come forward with any evidence or information that might lead to the arrest of the supsect.
“Anyone with information should contact Mqanduli Detectives Head, Lieutenant Colonel Ngqeleni at 083 984 4226 or Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or contact any nearest police station.
“Anonymous tip-offs are welcome,” said Captain Matyolo.
