Cape Town – The highly anticipated Miss South Africa 2025 pageant has been officially postponed from its traditional August schedule to an unspecified later date in 2025, according to organisers.
The postponement was announced in a July press release intended to “ensure greater alignment with international and other global events”.
The decision follows a wave of notable leadership changes within the organisation.
CEO Stephanie Weil, who had been at the helm since 2019, recently stepped down, and the creative director also departed earlier this year, fuelling speculation about the pageant’s future direction.
The restructured pageant aims to move beyond beauty, embracing broader themes such as entrepreneurship, job creation, cultural awareness, and social cohesion.
“The organisation, through its affiliated companies, aims to broaden the reach and impact of the pageant and its contestants,” the organisers said.
Entry submissions had opened on April 2 and closed on April 11, 2025, drawing interest from notable figures, including actors Mulisa Mudau, Nirvana Nokwe-Mseleku, and Luyanda Zuma, who entered to champion social issues like colourism, arts and cultural heritage, and youth empowerment.
