Cape Town – A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the brutal killing of 20-year-old Kgaogelo Nnonu Morata, whose body was discovered at a tavern in Maubane village near Hammanskraal.

Shortly after the crime, Ngwenya took to Facebook with a chilling post that read, “They may judge me, but you and I know the truth, you ruined us, as I posted everything on the app it will prove that. RIP. I promised you till death do us apart after I fought for your life. Will forever love you Mmamogashwa.”
Ngwenya later uploaded a TikTok video apologising for the killing, but insisting that it was not intentional. In the video he said,“I tried by all means to make things work between me and her… I’m sorry for what I did. It’s just that I cannot reverse what I did. I’m supposed to be raising and loving my kids.”
@zimtruth TRENDING 💔 Mfana Ngwenya brutally k*lled his girlfriend in the early hours of 21 August 2025 at a popular tavern called Dubai in Maubane. Shockingly, he filmed her lifeless body covered in blood while insulting her as she took her final breath calling her Sfebe. He also suggested that pressure from the victim’s mother over protection orders contributed to the breakdown of the relationship.
The victim’s father, speaking to Swisher Post, expressed his devastation, “Kgaogelo was my child. She was born in the 2000s and she has been killed by her boyfriend… I saw her body in the pathology service vehicle, and I’ll be burying her next week Saturday.”
According to police, Ngwenya is expected to appear before the Temba Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 25 August.
Investigators are also looking into whether the social media confession and apology video can be submitted as part of the evidence in court proceedings.
