Cape Town – South African music star Makhadzi has turned a challenging period following a serious car accident into a creative milestone, releasing a new song called Operations that reflects on her healing journey complete with a striking hospital selfie as the single’s official cover art.
The Limpopo‑born artist, whose real name is Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, was involved in a crash while travelling from Limpopo to Johannesburg on 31 December 2025. Her management confirmed she was hospitalised and subsequently discharged, and doctors advised a recovery break that means she will be off stage for about 10 weeks as she focuses on regaining her strength.
Despite being “booked off performing due to her injuries,” Makhadzi fulfilled a promise to fans by sharing Operations, a track that she worked on from home during her recuperation.

Quickly caught fans’ attention online, with many responding with humour and affection. Social media users commented things like: “She’s so unserious 😭😭😭😭” and “She’s hilarious and she knows it 😭😭😭😭.”
In the song itself, Makhadzi reassures listeners of her progress, singing lines like: “I’m on the way, I’m gonna heal. I was reducing, making better my operation. I can see, I can talk, but I was making my operation feel better.”
