Cape Town – Fans of former Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi‑Bolowana took to social media to rally behind the beauty queen after controversial podcaster Nhlamulo “Nota” Baloyi made a series of derogatory remarks about her appearance, particularly targeting her hairstyle from earlier in her career.
The incident began when Baloyi commented on a video of Tunzi‑Bolowana from her Miss Universe days, attacking her choice to move away from her signature short, natural hairstyle in favour of weaves after her pageant reign.
“Wannabe Nandi, she got married in a weave though, so she could look like the rest of the w****s,” Baloyi wrote in the post that prompted strong reactions from users.
Fans were quick to flood his comment section, expressing disappointment and telling him to leave Tunzi‑Bolowana alone.
One supporter wrote, “Nota, this is out of order, though. Don’t talk down on women like that,” while another challenged his focus, stating “What’s wrong with getting married wearing a weave?” as users defended the former Miss SA’s right to express herself.

Tunzi‑Bolowana captured national and international attention when she won Miss South Africa 2019 and later Miss Universe, largely celebrated for embracing her natural aesthetic and challenging conventional beauty norms.
Supporters pointed out that personal style evolution is common and should not be a basis for public insult or ridicule.
“Nobody should be criticised for changing their look as they grow and evolve,” one commenter said as the thread grew with similar sentiments.
