Cape Town – In a landmark move for South African boxing, Golden Gloves, Africa’s biggest boxing promoter is entering a new digital era after 50 years.
The organisation welcomes South African female entrepreneur, Nivi Grogor to its Board of Directors – emphasising transformation, innovation, and digital evolution for the sport.
A tech entrepreneur and founder of iME, a cutting-edge digital engagement platform, Grogor becomes one of the few South African women ever to join a senior leadership position in professional boxing.
Her joining the organisation marks a strategic shift as Golden Gloves accelerates its mission to modernise the sport – both for athletes and the fans.
“Nivi Grogor will lead this major transformation and reshape how boxing works for both athletes and fans. This new digital era is focused on giving athletes greater visibility and aims to reinvent how audiences experience boxing – making the sport more accessible, interactive, and engaging across modern digital platforms.”
“Boxing is a legacy sport,” she says. “My mission is to elevate boxing into a digitally driven experience that gives athletes greater visibility and fans better access than ever before.”
Grogor’s digital expertise will ensure that Golden Gloves transforms and broadens the sport’s reach to new, diverse audiences. “Sport can no longer exist without digital integration,” she says.
Adding a new dimension to the fan experience, Golden Gloves has partnered with award-winning South African singer and producer Lloyd Cele. The partnership debuted at Survivor on 29 November at Emperor’s Palace with two original tracks: Legends, a narrative tribute to the icons who built South African boxing, and We Are The Champions, an electrifying anthem for any sport.
“Sport and music are the two universal languages that unite people. By marrying them, we create emotional resonance and an immersive digital experience,” says Grogor.
Survivor – The Eliminator Round Boxing Tournament:
