Cape Town – President Cyril Ramaphosa has welcomed South Africa’s continued participation in the African Growth and Opportunity Act (Agoa) after US President Donald Trump signed its one-year extension into law, allowing eligible African countries to export certain goods to the US duty-free until 31 December 2026.
Speaking during a visit to the South African Revenue Service (SARS) headquarters in Pretoria, Ramaphosa said South Africa is still engaged in discussions with the US Trade Department to finalise related agreements.
He also confirmed that the process of appointing a new SARS Commissioner to replace Edward Kieswetter is progressing.
