Cape Town – South African motorists face another financial blow as December fuel price increases take effect.
Mineral and Petroleum Resources Minister Gwede Mantashe confirmed that petrol, diesel, paraffin and LPGas prices are rising from today, driven by a mix of international and local market factors.
Although crude oil prices dipped slightly, global oversupply concerns, higher international petrol prices due to refinery outages, the weaker rand, the slate levy, and adjusted industry margins all contributed to the hikes.
Fuel price increases for December 2025 include:
-
Petrol 93 & 95: up 29c/l
-
Diesel 0.05%: up 65.48c/l
-
Diesel 0.005%: up 82.48c/l
-
Illuminating paraffin (wholesale): up 74.48c/l
-
SMNRP for paraffin: up 99c/l
-
LPGas: up 24c/kg (plus 9c/kg in Western Cape)
The increases are expected to push up travel and household costs during the festive season.
