Cape Town – South African motorists will see a drop in fuel prices from Wednesday, 5 November 2025, according to the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE).
Both 93- and 95-octane petrol will decrease by 51 cents per litre, while diesel prices will drop by 21 cents (0.05% sulphur) and 19 cents (0.005% sulphur) per litre.
Illuminating paraffin will cost 1 cent less, and LP gas will decrease by 61 cents per kilogram.
After the adjustment, 93 unleaded petrol will cost R20.97/litre and 95 unleaded will be R21.12/litre. Diesel (0.05%) will drop to R19.13/litre, and diesel (0.005%) to R19.20/litre.
DMRE spokesperson Robert Maake attributed the price cuts to lower international petroleum product prices and a stronger rand.
The average Brent Crude oil price fell from $67.16 to $64.14 due to oversupply and global trade uncertainties, while the rand strengthened from R17.49 to R17.29 per US dollar.
The slate levy remains at zero cents per litre, with a positive balance of R3.74 billion recorded at the end of September 2025.
