Cape Town – Springbok rugby captain Siya Kolisi delighted audiences and long-time friend Marc Lottering by making an unexpected appearance during the opening night of Colleen the Musical at the Baxter Theatre in Cape Town.
Siya took to the stage to honour Marc, who was celebrating his 58th birthday on 4 December.
Footage shared by Marc on Instagram captured the moment Siya entered with a bouquet of flowers and joined the audience in singing “Happy Birthday” to the comedian. The gesture was met with applause from those gathered for the musical’s debut performance.

In a brief speech on stage Siya reflected on his long-standing friendship with Marc and praised both the comedian’s work and the personal connection they share.
“Marc and I have been friends for a very long time and he has been a blessing in my life,” Siya said.
He added that Marc ’s shows are not only entertaining but also “very educational,” tackling difficult topics with warmth and humor.
Marc later took to social media to thank his supporters for the birthday wishes, acknowledging the outpouring of positivity he received.
Marc wrote that he considers himself “the luckiest boy in the world” and reflected on the wisdom that comes with age, joking about how being “older and wiser” is still a work in progress.
