Cape Town – South African actor Zenzo Ngqobe has shared a deeply emotional tribute to his late friend and fellow actor, Presley Chweneyagae, who passed away at the age of 40 on 27 May due to breathing difficulties.
The two met in Mahikeng before fame and starred together in the acclaimed film Tsotsi, which marked the beginning of a lifelong brotherhood.
In an Instagram post, Zenzo described Presley as his “soul’s twin” praising his vibrant spirit and their shared journey through hardship, growth, and fatherhood.
“We began not on the world stage, but on home soil — Mafikeng — as wild-hearted boys chasing dreams bigger than we could fully comprehend. Drama classes, dusty roads, early laughter, youthful rebellion — we shared it all.
“Before the world knew our names, we knew each other’s hearts.”
Devastated by the loss, Zenzo said that he is heartbroken and still trying to come to terms with Presley’s death, vowing to honour his memory in time.
He thanked those who have celebrated Presley’s life and legacy.
