Cape Town – Social media influencer Mihlali Ndamase has issued a public statement detailing ongoing harassment and violations of her privacy, citing serious safety concerns for herself and her family.
According to her statement, the harassment began after she rejected advances from a man named Michael Brits, also known as “Mike,” whose behaviour she described as “obsessive and frightening.”
Mihlali described repeated invasions of her privacy, including being followed, approached at her workplace, and monitored in public spaces.
As stated by Mihlali, “Members of my family have been approached in public and people have been paid to follow me and take photographs of me without my consent.”
The influencer also addressed false and damaging stories about her life circulating online.
As reported by her statement, she said, “Some media publications repeated these allegations without verification. This has caused significant reputational harm and has further endangered my safety by presenting fiction as fact.”

Mihlali said she is currently engaging with law enforcement and taking legal steps to protect herself.
“I am speaking publicly not for attention and not for sympathy but because silence has become unsafe. It is important that it is known that these concerns have been raised and that this behaviour has been ongoing,” she stated.
The influencer emphasised that influence does not equal consent. According to Mihlali, “A woman does not owe access to her life, her body, or her time because she was pursued. Rejection is not provocation. Silence has cost me my peace.
Speaking now is an act of self-preservation. We need to come to a point where men understand that courting a woman does not entitle them to you or your body. No means no!”
