Cape Town – South African rapper and television personality Nadia Nakai is set to return to screens with Season 2 of her popular reality show Beyond Bragga, which premieres 6 September at 19:00 CAT on BET Africa (DStv Channel 129).
The second season promises more than PR and performance — it offers vulnerability, self-discovery, and a deeper look into her personal world.
In a recent conversation captured by IOL, Nakai reflected on how much she’s changed since Season 1.
“In season 1, I was in a different phase… in season 2, I’ve come more into myself and a little bit lighter and happier,” she shared.

Her renewed sense of ease is amplified by her family’s increased presence: “My little cousin… my aunt… this season, I really saw them blossom.”
Nadia’s goal is more than entertainment — it’s an authentic portrait of growth, grounded in everyday reality rather than spectacle.
She says her artistic purpose in the show: “Because of being the artist I am… I was able to show my day-in and day-out life.” She contrasted this with her experience on ensemble-driven programs like Young, Famous & African, noting that Beyond Bragga feels more personal. “It feels more natural, more me… it goes beyond the persona that everybody sees.”
Mental health also takes center stage. Nakai acknowledged that therapy often comes up in her life, and that this season will unpack both her reservations and thought process around seeking help.
She also candidly admitted that sometimes she can be “difficult to work with,” a side she plans to explore on screen to show how she and her team — Rooted in strong, women-led energy — navigate these dynamics.
Season 2 also tracks Nadia Nakai’s artistic ambitions, including the road toward her forthcoming album Braggacy, the rollout of a new music video, and early plans for a one-woman live show she has envisioned for years, according to OkMzansi.
