Cape Town – South African media personality Anele Mdoda has been embracing life as a married woman after quietly confirming her union with her husband, Bonelela “Buzza” James, following months of speculation about her relationship.
Anele officially confirmed her marriage when she shared photos of herself dressed in traditional Xhosa makoti attire on Instagram, introducing herself with the words: “My name is Mthawelanga, lovely to meet you,” a name given to her by her in-laws as part of the cultural process that welcomed her into the Mgudlwa family.

The beloved broadcaster had already sparked rumours throughout 2025 after posting images from Switzerland and sharing moments from traditional ceremonies, leading fans to believe that she had tied the knot long before she made the announcement public.
Anele also confirmed the news on her radio show, telling listeners: “Finally! Registered at Home Affairs. Mrs Mgudlwa, that’s me,” confirming that the marriage had been formalised.

Bonelela James, is a lawyer and a member of the Xhosa royal lineage, and her new name, Mthawelanga Mgudlwa, reflects her place within the family and its traditions. The outlet added that the couple had already celebrated important cultural rituals together, blending modern life with deep respect for heritage.
